If you’re looking for a luxury home in the Luberon area, this Bastide-style home may be for you. This stunning newly-renovated home is located in an off the beaten track area of Provence close to Saint Saturnin les Apt, with fantastic panoramic views of the Luberon mountains.
Surrounded by Olive Groves and Lavender
As you approach the property, you’ll pass oak trees and a lavender field. The driveway of this property is essentially a pathway through an olive grove. The house is surrounded by three hundred and fifty olive trees that produce many litres of fragrant olive oil. As soon as you step into the gardens you know that you’re in Provence. There are large swaths of lavender, thyme and rosemary plants as well as a pétanque area.
The oldest part of the house is a stone tower, or pigeonnier. The tower was adjacent to a rustic oven where neighbours would being their dough to be baked during the night by the owner. The original owner was a baker and farmer in the late 18th century. The current owner has renovated the house entirely with repurposed antique materials while creating a large space that allows for all the modern comforts.
The large windows throughout the house illuminate the Pierre de Bourgogne stone that make up the floors as well as the large white oak beam ceilings in traditional French style. A myriad of beautiful materials were used. For example, the kitchen cabinetry is made of 300 year old walnut that came from the shutters of a grand château in the Loire Valley. The owner restored the property with the upmost care to reflect the local Provençal style.
A Provençal Interior using Quality Materials
The house is a combined 430m2 (4628 square feet) on 3 levels. There are four large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, an elevator, office, kitchen perfect for entertaining and a living room with an old majestic fireplace.
The property is 15,000 m2, or about 3.5 acres including great white and green oaks.
