Christmas in Saint Remy de Provence

Saint Remy’s Marche de Noel

Here are some photos from last year’s Christmas market to get you into the holiday mood.
Dec 15-17, 2017* The date is always around the same time but changes every year.

St Remy de Provence’s weekend-long Christmas market will be this weekend! The stalls will set up in front of the Marie (town hall) where you’ll find boudin blanc, fougasse, quality wheels of mountain cheese, honey, pain d’épice, champagne, artisans and even the guy who comes every year to roast chestnuts!

A Chic and a Rustic Market at Once

Hotel Gounod, located in the corner of Place de la République, is also offering its own Christmas market. There you’ll find a few gastronomy stands (Japanese confections, Chateau Estoublon‘s olive oil, and Jouvaud patisseries) as well as many unique “créateurs” from all over the South of France that recycle vintage items, and create their own.

faugasse saint remy de provence

This is the first time that I’ve seen fougasse this shape. I had a hard time picking a flavour…

galette market saint remy

Little spiced galettes all the way from the Alps. The vendor makes them especially for this market.

Artisanal products as well as gourmet products…

These ceramic works are by local artist Guillermo García Varona who also creates Portuguese-style panels made of hand-painted blue and white tiles.

Unique pots! They are also decorated on the bottom! On my wish list.

Hotel Gounod – Chic and Cozy

Between visiting market stands, sip on a glass of wine in Hotel Gounod’s bar that was recently renovated into this cosy and chic space.

marche createurs provence

Aurelia’s creations from Edition Ephémère. She came all the way from the Cévennes for the market at Hotel Gounod. All the stands are set up in the ground floor hotel rooms that have been cleared of their furniture for the market.

I fell in love with everything created by Aurelia at Edition Ephémère! I managed to amazingly only buy one thing- but there is always tomorrow…

Love the black and white striped cushions.

Both Hotel Gounod and the main Saint Remy Christmas market open around 10 am to 6pm. Enjoy!
