Les Gourmandises de To Saint Remy de Provence

les gourmandises de To saint Remy de Provence
A charming farm-shop in the countryside.

I’m always on the lookout for interesting spots in the Alpilles and I’ve recently found a new one! Les Gourmandises de To is an Epicerie Gourmande in the countryside between Saint Remy de Provence and Les Baux de Provence. I visited a couple days ago after the market in Saint Remy, which was crazy busy. Instead of having a coffee and a biscuit in town, this is a more picturesque option.

A Peachy Farmhouse

I had first heard about Les Gourmandises de To when I heard a delicious rumour of quality peaches being sold by the tray load. Originally, the family that lives in this farmhouse (Mas in Provençal) were producers of apples. They have lived here for generations. Now, they produce high-quality peaches and have been doing so for the last seventy years. Locals know that during the month of July and August this is the place to come for excellent peaches and nectarines.

My Stylish French Box

My Stylish French Box

My stylish French box

I have been following on social media for some time My Stylish French Box and basically coveting their gorgeous boxes full of hand-picked French items. The concept, created by writer of My French Country Home Sharon Santoni (see her beautiful Instagram and stunning house here) is that every three months a box is delivered to your home full of stylish French products. Sharon’s first book, My Stylish French Girlfriends, is a beautiful reference for authentic French living. This really is a stunning book and really stands out on my bookshelf as one of the most beautiful. Sharon’s experience in publishing is evident as she clearly has access to some talented people to help her assemble this masterpiece. I would imagine that you’d be hardpressed to find Book Designers that could do a better job than the ones that Sharon enlisted to work on her book.

Experience Provence as a House-sitter

house sitting in provence pool

Recently I was fortunate enough to be invited to stay as a housesitter in a home of expats who had arrived in France some years ago. They now live in a delightful village in the Var, Haute Provence. The owners needed to return to the UK for a family function and needed someone to care for their dogs at home in France. They prefer that the dogs are cared for at home. No problem I said! My bag was packed before you could say ‘apéro’!

Orange Wine by Domaine Henri Milan in St Remy

Terroir Bar London

Natural Wine Trend

If you’re not currently living in London, New York, Paris or Japan you may not have heard of orange wine, or even biodynamic wine for that matter. We were introduced to it 5 years ago when living in London with the Terroir biodynamic wine bars. Robin is absolutely crazy for this liquid delight. However, it is quite different from wines you may be used to in that there are absolutely no additives and they have been manipulated in no way. Another word for them is raw wine. And that can sometimes describe the taste and experience.
