Here are some photos of the full before and after renovation bedroom and bathroom. The difference is just as radical as it is anywhere else in the house. This is officially my favorite room of the house; it’s beautiful and cozy. What do you think?!
Before
Not too pretty beforehand but you can see that this room gets lots of light. Therefore, it had potential in our eyes. The string hanging down in the left-hand corner was the access to the attic. We took the ceiling and attic down, exposed the high wooden beams, and made a little attic above the staircase.
After
It’s clear in this picture that we moved the staircase to an entirely different part of the room. Lots of work! But worth it.

The Niche!
Even the Provencal niche was spiffed up. Now it’s my own private shelf… (as it’s on my side of the bed)

This was the bathroom, complete with plastic concertina sliding door and basin that drains into the shower tray. The closet is on the right.
After
We knocked everything down and installed the bathroom where the closet was, to make use of the small window. The current attic is just visible above the staircase. We used a beautiful old door. The bathroom isn’t 100% finished yet though I’m really pleased with how it’s looking at the minute.
The shower
The shower is modern with a glass panel (like the ones from GlassShowerDirect.com). There had to be a little taste of vintage in there, notice the taps.

Speaking of light, it seems like the built-in shelves behind the bed offer both additional storage and act as a clever way to frame the window. Could you share some details on how you designed and installed these shelves? Were they custom made or off-the-shelf with modifications?
