August in Provence
This is most certainly the busiest month here in Provence. Just about every village is putting on their local fête votives or annual festivals in Provence that often last for at least 4 days. These festivals are in honour the village saint and include live music, village feasts, boules competitions and plenty of bull running.
All the Northern French head to the sea and sun, as indicated by the stressful traffic reports radiating out of Paris, for a lengthy summer vacation. You really have to applaud them. There is no point trying to make a dentist appointment or seeing your lawyer, you might as well do as everyone else and just relax…
Here is a small selection of the many upcoming events happening in the month of August mostly in the Bouches du Rhône and Vaucluse regions of Provence. I’ll be updating this list throughout the month as it is often difficult to find out about location village fêtes unless you actually drive through that village and see the posters.
