Provence. Food. Markets. Finds. Art. Curious.
(version français en bas de la page)
What I offer (other than Provence inspiration): Vacation Photography, Personalized Itineraries, Oil Paintings, and great enthusiasm!
*2023 edit : I will be offering market tours exclusively to our guests staying at La Picholine rental.
Curious Provence is about living and experiencing the real Provence. I aim to share my passion and knowledge of local food, wine, markets, festivities and other interesting cultural particularities. If you live in Provence or are planning on visiting, I can help to point out festivals to look forward to (as local tourism websites can be incredibly difficult to navigate), tips on places to visit and my favourite restaurants.
Also, if you are not living in France or planning on visiting the Provence region anytime soon, then please feel free to live vicariously through my local adventures! Follow me on Instagram for lots of stories and images from this beautiful place I’m lucky to call home.
I’m a Photographer in Provence!
If you’re looking for a photographer in Provence, please feel free to send me an email. With a background as a fine art photographer, I now offer vacation photography in Provence. Growing in popularity, this is the ultimate souvenir from your vacation. Better than a selfie, by far. I photograph romantic couples photo shoots, family photo shoots, or solo portraits all in beautiful surroundings such as lavender fields, hilltop towns, sunflowers, olive groves or castle ruins. I can also help you coordinate a surprise proposal for your significant other in a stunning location. He/she won’t even know it’s coming!

Provence France Map
Provence or PACA (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azure region) in Southeast France is a very large including coastline, mountains, plains and many different fiercely protected traditions. My area of Provence includes mainly the Vaucluse and Bouches du Rhône departments of PACA with some venturing into the Var, Gard and Drome. It’s not the glitz and glamour of the Côte d’Azur but the Provence of the paysan, or proud country peasant, who tends the vines and orchards of this beautiful part of the world. In my opinion, the real Provence.
About moi
My name is Ashley. I was born and raised in Montréal, Canada. I’m slightly obsessed with food and have always been drawn to the rich history, way of life and beauty of Europe. The need to make the great leap to Europe was cemented (in pasta?) after studying art in a tiny studio in Florence, Italy at the tender age of 18. Stone buildings with colourful shutters and terracotta rooftops have haunted me ever since. I met Robin while attending a wine school in the South of France. We dated long distance for 5 years while I was in university before we finally made the move to England, then France.
A natural creative, I love working with my hands. In addition to photography, I paint, make cyanotypes, dabble in ceramics, cook, and garden. See my artist website. For oil painting enquiries, feel free to send me an email. They usually sell out here on the site.
Robin is the ultimate francophile. It was France… or France. I’m not complaining. We moved to Provence 10 years ago in search of the French version of la dolce vita (joie de vivre). We found it in the local markets and landscape. We’re now on our second home renovation.
Living the Dream in Provence
Here in Provence, the olives and wine are delicious, the people are friendly, and the sunshine beams off the craggy rocks of Les Alpilles. The only option here is the scenic route. Now I understand the French obsession with beauty among other life necessities such as sitting down and taking a moment for yourself while you drink your morning coffee. The slow life, or whatever hashtag you prefer. It’s a lifestyle, and it’s wonderful.

Curious about Curious : En Français
