Camilli Books & Tea
I stumbled across this bookstore and tearoom only a few months ago despite the fact that I had been living 20 minutes away from Avignon for a year. I had always gone to Aix en Provence for my English books.
I’m always trying to find ways to meet new people; this can be tricky for expats. Camille offers a great opportunity for meeting locals.
English Conversation Evenings
On Wednesday and Friday evenings from 5pm-7pm, you can drink a cup of tea, munch on a homemade biscuit, and meet local people who want to learn English. The goal of each of these sessions is for people to be able to practice their English. This is a great icebreaker as people are already open to the fact that your French may not be perfect.
Otherwise, you can, of course, browse the store for secondhand English books, enjoy the art exhibitions and in the warmer months sit on the terrace, which offers a little private garden away from the bustle of the city. There is wifi!
Other Events
Camilli Books & Tea also holds other types of events, especially for the holidays, such as learning how to make paper snowflakes, knitting (all throughout the year), pottery and painting workshops. So next time you’re in Avignon, stop by this little shop for a reminder of home as well as the possibility to make new friends.
Opening Hours
Tuesday- Saturday 12-7pm
Check out the website for more information on upcoming workshops and conversation groups.
Camille also offers English lessons and translations. You can contact her through the site or drop by the store.

I could probably stay there all day looking through her books. I love books!!! What a wonderful place to meet locals. I wish I had known about this cute shop in October. Then there was so much to do…and so little time. Next trip!
